Notice Regarding Revised “Precautions for Use” for Products Containing Cysteamine
Our cystamine-containing products (see table below for applicable products) will have their labeling revised to align with the updated usage precautions in the Japan Permanent Wave Solution Manufacturers Association's “Voluntary Standards for Rinse-Off Hair Setting Agents,” effective July 12, 2024.
This revision follows the designation of cysteamine hydrochloride as an active pharmaceutical ingredient, making its inclusion in cosmetics prohibited under cosmetic standards. However, following discussions between the Japan Permanent Wave Solution Manufacturers Association and the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, cysteamine hydrochloride remains permissible for use in “hair setting agents that are used only on hair and are rinsed out.” Therefore, our products can continue to be used as before.
Regarding the label changes, the main additions are: 【Precautions for Eye Contact】【Precautions Regarding Glove Use】【Conducting a Patch Test】. The 【Conducting a Patch Test】 requirement, in particular, has been added to further enhance safety considerations. These measures prioritize product safety and user health above all else, and we will continue striving to improve product safety going forward.
Therefore, for the applicable products in question, we kindly ask that you observe the newly added precautions below, in addition to the existing usage instructions currently displayed on the product, when using them.
